According to the Federal Highway Administration, every public highway bridge longer than 20 feet has been catalogued in the National Bridge Inventory since 1968, each with a unique structure number and a condition record across all 50 states. This tool searches that inventory by the route a bridge carries, the river or road it crosses, or its recorded location, and links every match to its full condition record, drawn straight from the FHWA data, as our methodology documents.

What does the load rating mean?
It is the NBI inventory load rating in metric tons, the load level a bridge is rated to carry for an indefinite period. A lower number means the structure is more load-restricted. How ratings work →
Can't find a specific bridge?
Some structures have sparse text fields in the NBI. Try browsing by state and then county to reach it from the inventory tree.
